Description

Linden Leaf

Traditional Use: The dried flower, leaves, and wood are used for medicine. Linden leaf is used for colds, stuffy nose, sore throat, breathing problems (bronchitis), headaches, fever, and to make it easier to bring up phlegm by coughing (as an expectorant).

Common Use: Today, linden is used in many cough and cold remedies. Active ingredients in linden help promote sweating, which may help treat people with fevers. However, scientific evidence on linden’s effectiveness is lacking. Lime trees are also valued for their wood and charcoal, and for the honey made from their flowers.

Dispensing: The European Medicines Agency recommends a moderate intake of linden tea, which they define as no more than 4 grams, or two tea bags, a day.
